Client/Company/Project type: 48 hour jam for the 2022 XR Brain Jam (part of the ‘Games for Change’ festival) – https://xrbrainjam.org/
Project date: summer 2022
My role: Lead UX Designer
Project Summary/About this Project: Our team of 5 was tasked with creating an AR game based around dealing with anxiety. Collectively we worked together to create a narrative role-based game about the relationship of two characters, Sam & Alex. I worked directly with two AR game developers, a mental health-SME and a game director.
The challenge: Time was definitely a challenge in this project. We realized that in order to deliver a full experience (narrative and AR elements), we needed to cut the original script short.
Solution; After getting the story outline from the director, I first created a storyboard plotting the script against either visuals/interactions on the phone or what the user would be seeing & experiencing. I then transferred the story board into Figma to create mid-fidelity wireframes showing suggested actions and elements within the AR space. The developers were able to use that to find open-source objects to place within the AR experience.
Results: Our game won an award at the jam for ‘best narrative’ and went on to be highlighted at the main conference.
